Hypnotherapy

The essence of all good therapy is a strong level of emotional support. You need to feel your therapist is there for you. Our therapists have been trained to provide a safe atmosphere for this support. It is an atmosphere in which you can confide and express your feelings safely.  We are not there to judge you. We will provide empathy and support. We care how we care for you and constantly train and retrain to perfect our caring skills. The reason we use hypnosis is because it has the ability to change how you are not who you are. Hypnosis has been with us since time began and has been used to treat people's problems for centuries.  It is a natural state, experienced daily by people  just as they wake up in the morning and fall asleep at night as well as during the day and whilst driving (you know that feeling - suddenly realising you have driven the last few miles, but you can't remember much about how you got there!). Hypnotherapy has recently enjoyed a renaisance with some TV programmes showing just how effective it can be, in the use of pain control in dentistry and other surgical procedures but these are only the tip of the iceberg. Hypnotherapy is a very effective treatment for many other conditions and can be used to benefit people in the areas of self development and performance too. Hey! it is completely natural, totally green, won't leave a carbon footprint and has no side affects. A skilled hypnotherapist will use your own hidden or suppressed resources to help you fix you.

Where We come in
A Hypnotherapist uses Hypnosis to help people with many different problem behaviours and conditions. These are just a few:

Problematic Thoughts and Ideas
Thoughts and ideas can cause problems when they are intrusive, unrealistic or upsetting. Examples of such thoughts include:·

Continually thinking that one is suffering from an illness, despite medical reassurance
Relationship doubts
Thinking negatively rather than seeing the good side
Wondering whether others are being negatively judgmental
The thoughts, feelings and behaviours of Depression.

HYPNOTHERAPY can help the client to change these and many other ideas.

An article From The Scotsman newspaper: 21st September 2007
"MORE than a quarter of Scots have suffered a mental health problem, it emerged yesterday. A study for the Scottish Government found 28 per cent of people had experienced mental illness. Depression, panic attacks and stress were among the most common problems". So lets get this straight - "You are not the only one struggling!"

Phobias
People often experience irrational fears. The object of the fear can be almost anything, but typical examples include:

insects
animals
situations, such as going out, enclosed spaces, or the dark
blood, needles etc.
Also, many people have what is technically called “social phobia”: shyness, nerves, lack of confidence with people etc.

HYPNOTHERAPY is particularly renowned for its effectiveness in assisting sufferers to overcome these distressing and inhibiting conditions.

Feelings
People can suffer from a wide variety of feelings which can be distressing if too severe or too regular. For example:

panic attacks
anxiety
jealousy
guilt
anger
low self esteem
lack of confidence

Whatever the problem feeling, HYPNOTHERAPY can deal with it more specifically than can a drug and without harmful side effects.

Habits
People can find themselves in the grip of many habits that they seem unable to control, eg:

smoking
nail-biting
poor sleep patterns
more deep-seated compulsions.

HYPNOTHERAPY, using hypnotic techniques, can help to remove habits with precision.

Medical issues
Medical issues can also be dealt with using hypnosis, but this is only undertaken by a physician or under a physician’s referral/supervision.

Stress conditions
(See also Stress Management). HYPNOTHERAPY can be very effective for resolving issues that lead to an excess of stress, and for coping with the effects of stress.

Weight control
There are many reasons why people may put on weight, and a properly trained HYPNOTHERAPIST will be able to work with the individual to bring about changes in eating and activity habits in order to bring weight under control. One of the key reasons for “weight loss” programmes being often only temporarily effective is that the person feels that they are missing out. This need not apply with a hypnotherapeutic approach.

The above is for general information only, if you would like to discuss the specifics of hypnotherapy and what it can do for you or to arrange an appointment in Linlithgow please call us on 01506 830 190.
